Time to introduce our selected builder,
Giraffe Design Build! Based out of Chelsea, Michigan, they have a wealth of experience in whole-house remodels and new construction.
This is also a good time to give a shout-out to our friends Katy and Brandon, who very recently finished a complete overhaul re-model of a very interesting house right on the Huron river, just 2 miles down the road from our own spot! They had only good things to say about their builder,
Giraffe Design Build, that we had to meet with them and pitch our own crazy project.

Turns out that Martin Clarke, owner of Giraffe, must be as crazy as we are, because he enthusiastically agreed to take on our wacky project with an admittedly tight budget. We would then spend dozens of hours in several meetings over the winter and spring of 2014, reviewing design goals and concepts, putting together a plan, and finally a budget and contract.
