Fall 2013

So, not a lot of progress on the home build during 2013.  We are ok with that.  Katy was mega-preggers, Zachary was born, and the house stuff just seemed so complicated.

We never lost faith that we'd be building soon, though.  To that end, we started making some arrangements.

Meanwhile, the home site turned green and luscious again.

We knew we'd need electricity early on in the home build.  Might as well get that all goin'.  Neighbor Bob was amazingly helpful, and allowed us to trench the primary power supply to our transformer directly through his vegetable garden.  he also helped me build a plateau atop our hill, to keep the power line runs as short as possible.

First, I had to carve a road up to the hill top.

Looking back down the hill.

Building the plateau with a base of concrete rubble.

After many loads of dirt!

Ready for a transformer.  The metal post behind the plateau is our property corner.

Looking down/back towards the home site.

DTE hooked up the transformer, but no meter/service until our home foundation is in.  It would be a while....

Ta-da.

I took a solo hike on a crisp fall day and took some photos before all the green went away.
Home-site mowed and ready for winter.

Looking back down the future driveway

I love our forest.

And I love our creek, too.
